Welcome to Alberta!
To help you have a nice, easy transition into our province,
you'll need the following documents.
To obtain an Alberta Operators License:
Previously Licensed in Canada
-You must surrender your license from your previous
jurisdiction in order to switch it to an Alberta License.
You are also required to provide:
- proof of Canadian Citizenship, e.g. Canadian
Passport, Birth Certificate, Permanent Residence Card, Work
Permit etc.
-proof of Alberta Residency, e.g. Utility Bill,
Landline phone bill, paystubs, rental/lease agreement,
letter from current employer, or a current bank statement.
-secondary piece of supporting ID, e.g. Credit Card,
Health care Card, SIN card etc.
It is important that you have at least 2 years of
driving experience reflected on your documents, if not , you
will be placed under the Graduated Licensing Program. If
this information is not reflected on the License card
itself, the information can be obtained by requesting either
a confirmation letter or Drivers Abstract from your previous
jurisdiction.
